ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand and follow work orders and work instructions

• Adjust entry line process parameters and mechanical components for the different shapes of material

• Operate overhead crane to load coils

• Feed coil into the line and ensure continuous material availability and flow

• Perform charge back of unprocessed coils in the system

• Ensure compliance with productivity metrics

• Visually inspect quality of coils per requirements (i.e. surface, ring edges)

• Execution of maintenance and cleaning tasks according to the maintenance plan or as required for efficient operation

• Troubleshoot and correct minor system malfunctions

• Assist the Mill Technicians and Maintenance team as necessary

• Ensure a complete handover protocol

• Documentation of process relevant parameters by using forms

• Address any unsafe conditions and situations

• Participate in continuous improvement activities

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Responsible for the total Quality of products and services and authorized to stop work when a nonconformance is noted
• Perform assigned quality system functions as specified in the Quality Management System
• Perform other responsibilities as determined by the supervisor
• Observe established Environmental, Health, and Safety regulations, procedures, and practices

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
• Manufacturing experience preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Strong problem solving ability
• Knowledge of blueprint reading
• Strong mathematical ability
• Knowledge of metric system
• Knowledge of shop floor production software

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, coolant, or airborne particles and will work near moving mechanical parts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Excessive walking, bending, standing, climbing, reaching, and lifting.
• Ability to visually inspect parts and use of hands to use measuring gages.
• Ability to run machines and equipment safely and efficiently.
